Hey hi hello.

I have had some network difficulties the last week, and I don't normally ask around forums, but I feel like this is the last resort.

Now, my problem is that I somehow cannot connect to things like Steam, I can't connect to my local hosted Minecraft server using my IP ('localhost' works fine), my Win-7 gadgets can't connect to their server, and I can't connect to the peers in Bittorrent. My internet works perfectly in the ways of browsing, streaming Youtube, downloading installation files (no problem downloading the setup for Steam, Bittorrent, etc.), and I am even able to connect to Origin just fine. I just don't get the pattern.

I formatted my computer, hoping it would fix the thing but with no luck. I guess it is a router/modem thing. I have made no recent changes in router settings or installed suspicious programs whatsoever, and I have tried a series of things that didn't work, so I don't really know what to do at this point. I sincerely hope you do!

Here are my specs, should they matter:

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Intel Core i7
4 GB RAM
ADM Radeon HD 6800 series

D-Link Dir-615 router

I really hope you guys can help me with this!

**UPDATE**

Okay, this is getting really weird, so I think I'll just make a list of things that work and things that do not:

LAN-connection

Works:
Internet
Download files form browser
Win-7 gadgets
Origin client

Does not work:
Steam client (unable to connect to Steam network)
Minecraft server (timeout)
Bittorrent client (connecting to peers)

Wireless connection

Works:
Internet
Download files from browser
Win-7 gadgets
Origin client
Steam client
Bittorrent client

Does not work:
Minecraft server (timeout)

Additionally I've tried scanning ports over at WhatsMyIp.org and regardless whether it's LAN or wireless, I get "timeout (blocked)" in every port.

My wireless is a nice alternative for short term useage, but it also has a limited and not to say reduced functionality (going from 8MB/s to 1.5-2MB/s). I hope this additional information can help you help me.

You might try looking at your firewall zones, to make sure that you have them as "trusted" and not "Public". Public locks them out, refuses any 2-way connections. You could turn all firewalls off temporarily, to see if that's what's blocking them.

I tried to disable my firewall comepletely, but it's still not working. Didn't help to mess around with the public settings either - in fact only Bittorrent was public enabled.
