A note appeared on the bottom right of my screen stating that my windows is not genuine, when it is. I can't find where to re-enter the activation key.
At the same time that it happened, the letters started to jump all over the place when I am typing an email or this note for instance.
Today, my screen went black when rebooting and I can't bring it back to its original looks.
Help please!
Thank you

Hi.
Made a few enquiries. To save you going around and around in circles and providing you believe that the licence is valid, post your question here,
> http://social.micros...indows7/threads
When you resolve the issue, we would much appreciate an update as this may help other with the same problem.

Don't understand the achronyms. I bought the computer from Dell, they installed Windows and I have the key on a sticker at the bottom of the computer. Haven't done any hardware changes. The only change that I did, after the problems started, was to get rid of McAfee and to install the AVG 2013 antivirus free version, which says there is no threat to my computer.
Thanks

Hi Nomi4.

Don't understand the achronyms.

Who are you addressing please? and what acronyms?

I have just been reading a similar post and we do have a member here who is good at analysis of the results from the below procedure. Is your computer operational enough to perform the following?
To properly analyze and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the diagnostic report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft....k/?linkid=52012 )

Once downloaded, run the tool.Click on the Continue button, after a short time, the Continue button will change to a Copy button.Click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your next post.

Hello Nomi4,

I have reviewed your MGADiag log and can confirm that your license is genuine however there are a few things that are causing problems here so let's have a go at fixing them:

SFC Scan

  • Click on the Start Posted Image button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  • When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  • When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt

  • This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

Tom

Started it several times and it always stops after the scan runs up to 40% and states that windows cannot complete the task.
Thanks

Hi Nomi,

At this stage, I would hazard a guess at you having fairly significant registry damage which we will need to fix before SFC can run to completion.

Can you download the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) please:

http://www.microsoft...s.aspx?id=20858

Save this to your Desktop as we'll probably have to use it more than once.

Run/install it by double clicking on it. It can take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours to complete so please be patient. When it finishes, please do the following:

Export CBS Folder

  • Click on the Start Posted Image button and then click Computer
  • Double click on the C: drive, under the Hard Disk Drives category, and then scroll down to, and double click on the Windows folder
  • Find and double click on the Logs folder, and then inside that folder, right-click on the CBS folder and select Copy
  • Go back to your Desktop, right-click on it, and select Paste. You should now see a folder on your Desktop called CBS
  • Right-click on this folder again, and navigate through Send to, and select Compressed (zipped) folder
  • A new file, also called CBS, but this time with a different icon, will be created. Please upload this new file to the forum, here
