Don't know if this is the right forum to ask this question, I'll ask anyway

Its already been a while, since I last used the Lexmark 8300 series laserjet printer, and in fact I don't even have it anymore. Uninstalling it became nearly impossible, due to the error message that pops up, when I click uninstall in control panel programs & features

%BuildTemplateErrorMessage% is what pops up when I click uninstall. Same goes for Revo Uninstaller

How do I remove when simple methods don't work?

If the Lexmark 8300 series laserjet printer appears in the program files then I think I know of a way. :)

Using the Avast Removal Tool for removing stubborn hard to remove files................

  • Download aswclear.exe on your desktop
  • http://files.avast.c...ng/aswclear.exe
  • Start Windows in Safe Mode
  • Open (execute) the uninstall utility( Vista Win 7 User's Need to Right Click and Run as Admin.)
  • Locate the file or folder which you would like to remove/delete
  • To Have avast delete the folder you can specify which folder needs deletion by hitting the search button from within the Avast Removal Utility. [...]
  • Go to the C: Drive then Locate the Folder in program files.
  • Left Click the Lexmark 8300 Folder once
  • Select OK
  • Select Un install from within the avast removal tool
  • Select Yes To the Prompt
  • Allow confirmation of Deleted files.
  • X out of the Avast Un install Utility
  • Follow the Prompt To Reboot
  • (Note: Be careful! The content of any folder you choose will be deleted!)

After the reboot into Normal Mode remove the printer from add remove programs.

Although if you have Avast installed on your machine this will remove the Antivirus.
Hopefully this will remove that stubborn file for you as well.

Reason I ask this method was just a theory of mine until now. :)

Sweet Good to know, thanks for following the steps correctly and pass it on if you ever run across a hard to remove file.
Good day. :)
