Hi All

When trying to download any malware programs (ie Malwarebytes, Super Antispyware) Windows will flag them as a viruses. Have Trend Micro and have it disabled and that did not help. Can install them from usb drive and able to install and run but they do not find any problems. Can download and install Microsoft updates. Tried to download and install Firefox and cannot download it.

Thanks for any help, Doug

It is flagging Malwarebytes, Superantispyware, Firefox. The only thing that seems to be able to download is Microsoft updates.

Thanks, Doug

Even though Vista is not the best, it still should not flag any program I try to download as a virus. Just tried Firefox again and same results.

Thanks, Doug

Hi

I was able to install Firefox from a thumb drive and I cannot download and run a program from it either. Was hoping it was a problem with IE9. A puzzler.

Thanks, Doug

Hi

I ran OTL scanner and I see what looks like regestry errors, just thinking this could be some of my problems.

Thanks, Doug

I still would like to know WHAT is flagging things as malware? What program is doing this. What Anti-virus program do you use?

Try booting to Safe Mode with Networking to download and run Malware Bytes.

Hi

I cannot download any programs in safemode with networking. Have installed (from flash drive) and ran; Malwarebytes, SuperAnitspyware, Hitman Pro, Spybot and they do not find anything but addware. Also they are able to update with no problems. Have run Kaspersy rescue disk, AVG rescue disk and they do not find anything. Has Trend Micro and even with that disabled, still cannot download programs. Trend Micro scan does not find anything. Sure was hoping the errors the registry might have been the problem. Not the best at deciphering registry problems

Stumped, Doug

Hi

Found that if we create a new admin user account we can download anything on the computer. Have been trying to find how change setting on the old admin account.

Thanks, Doug

You're best bet is to keep the new admin account and copy everything from the old, corrupted account to the new one. See here: http://windows.micro...ed-user-profile
