I am getting regular Bsod. I have used who-crashed to deduce this is the problem. It seems to be a virtual driver for avast, so i completely removed it and switched to Microsoft sec essentials. that didn't help and the same problem persists. I have run check disk and memtest with no errors. Help appreciated. PC is 6 months old and has been working fine up until now. Windows 7 64bit system.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Conclusion
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

30 crash dumps have been found and analyzed. Only 15 are included in this report. A third party driver has been identified to be causing system crashes on your computer. It is strongly suggested that you check for updates for these drivers on their company websites. Click on the links below to search with Google for updates for these drivers:

aswsnx.sys

If no updates for these drivers are available, try searching with Google on the names of these drivers in combination the errors that have been reported for these drivers and include the brand and model name of your computer as well in the query. This often yields interesting results from discussions from users who have been experiencing similar problems.

Read the topic general suggestions for troubleshooting system crashes for more information.

Note that it's not always possible to state with certainty whether a reported driver is actually responsible for crashing your system or that the root cause is in another module. Nonetheless it's suggested you look for updates for the products that these drivers belong to and regularly visit Windows update or enable automatic updates for Windows. In case a piece of malfunctioning hardware is causing trouble, a search with Google on the bug check errors together with the model name and brand of your computer may help you investigate this further.

One possibility here: BSOD aswSnx.SYS and ntoskrnl.exe

If you don't use SoundTap then zip up the 5 most recent minidumps from C:\Windows\minidump (only the 5 most recent) and upload them here please.

The dumps seem to be all over the place, Firefox, Explorer, System, etc...

Let's test your system memory: Download Memtest86+ (you want the 2nd one Download - Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.zip)). Unzip it then create a CD from the iso file using your CD burning software. There is a good freeware burner called ImgBurn which will do this easily.

DO NOT burn the .iso file directly to CD. It must be used as input to a program that knows what to do with it, like the one I mentioned above.

You can do this on any computer that has a working CD Burner.

You can also use a Flash drive instead of a CD.

Download - Auto-installer for USB Key (Win 9x/2k/xp/7) *NEW!*.
Unzip and run Memtest86+ USB Installer.exe.
It will format the flash drive if you tell it to. I used a small, 16MB flash drive and it had 8.5GB left when done.

Boot the CD or Flash drive and run Memtest86+ for at least 3 complete passes unless it shows errors sooner than that. An overnight run is even better.

Did u read my whole post? I have done that exactly as you say already. My memory came back clean after 8 Passes which took over 8 hours. Not one fault.

Sorry, missed the part about running memtest.

Let's see what's installed and running when you boot. Download and install CCleaner from the following link: CCleaner - Standard

During installation, uncheck the option to install the Yahoo toolbar.

Start CCleaner. Click on Tools (ICON) and Select the following BUTTONS to create two (2) text files:
  • Uninstall > Save to text file (install) – bottom right corner of app window
  • Startup > Save to text file (startup)
Locate and open each saved file in the ‘Documents’ FOLDER:
  • Copy and paste the contents of each file into your next post (2 files).

Disable the following in msconfig and see if that makes a difference. If yes then start enabling them a few at a time until the problem happens again and you have the cause.

My first guess would be Alcohol 120%

i doubt it would be any of those, all were installed and working fine. alcohol was installed recently to burn memtest so it wouldn't be that either. Is this a stab in the dark or is there anything else i could do? Thanks

Stab in the dark for sure. Did you try disabling everything as I mentioned.

Maybe a Repair Install would resolve this: How to Do a Repair Install to Fix Windows 7

Everything disabled as you said, then it BSOD on shutdown which is rare, usually happens on startup. I have done a repair installation and even formatted my hdd and re-installed windows. Could there be something on the ram that could be causing this in its memory? My other alternatives were to take it to a repair shop. Thing is i know how these things work and a minor issue could go un-noticed as they simply tell me to replace a major component. Funds are low so i cant afford to do that. If i can prove which part is faulty i can send it back as all parts are still under warrenty

Sure. Even though memtest ran clean there could still be a memory problem. I would try removing half the ram and test. If it happens again, swap memory and test more.

Did the BSODs start immediately after you formatted and did a clean install or was it after you installed software that it started happening? If immediately after format then it almost certain to be a hardware problem.

Do you do any kind of over clocking of the CPU or ram?

I don't think a repair shop is going to find this nor have the patience to run it long enough to figure out what is happening.

I'm going to ask for other folks here to take a look and see if they have any ideas.

It happened alot on startup so i thought it might of been a program or something so then I formatted. The problem still persists after the format. I will try removing the ram sticks one at a time. thanks. Also no, i havnt overclocked at all.

Gday.
What kind of Windows disk do you have, Upgrade, burned from download, OEM, Retail.
When does the computer crash, idle, browsing, under load?
Have you tried running in safe mode with Networking?
Have you tried running, (just browsing) with only one stick of RAM installed?

Please Run the PCPitstop.com OverDrive Full Tests Here's how:
You must use your Internet Explorer for this procedure. (doesn't work so well in Firefox or others). If your machine is running Vista or Windows 7, you must Select IE to "Run as Administrator". After completing PCPitstop OverDrive you can close your IE browser and re-open it Normally so that you are no longer running as administrator.

Go to: http://www.pcpitstop...pit/default.asp
Click on "Free Computer Check-up" listed below PC Pitstop OverDrive
In the User Login - Click on "Sign up FREE!"You'll need to submit a valid email address and create your own password, then click - Create Account(button)
Now enter your email address and password to Log in,

Select - Scan this system Now!(button)
You will then be asked to download an ActiveX component and allow it to install. It is safe and does not compromise your privacy. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the ActiveX and to allow the Full Tests to be run on your machine. The Full Tests take about 2 1/2 - 3 minutes on most machines.

When complete, a Results - Summary - Recommended Fixes will be displayed.
Please post the URL internet address, from your Results browser address bar, back here into this Topic Thread so that we can review the configuration and present performance levels of your machine.

Note: During the graphics 2D and graphics 3D testing, your screen will display some rapidly moving objects. If you are sensitive to visual flashing, it may cause dizziness. Therefore, look away from the screen during that portion of the testing.

While PCPitstop does offer a variety of Paid Products, the PCPitstop OverDrive testing is FREE. Please ignore the references to Paid Products. We prefer to provide manual solution instructions that you can apply directly to your machine.

Thanks to rshaffer61 for the PCPitstop information :notworthy:
