I want to set my laptop back to factory setting as I have had it for a few years and it's starting to go quite slow. I don't have a recovery disc so I was wondering how to do it without.. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
By the way, I've holding '0' but it doesn't work...

Hello Ninja and welcome to Geeks To Go

It is always better to come to a dedicated computer help forum with issues rather than seek help from Yahoo Answers albeit there are some talented people on that site.

Have a read of this paying particular attention to section 2:

So you actually did the underlined bit and it still didn't work yes?

2. Press and hold the 0 (zero) key on top of the keyboard (not the zero key on the numeric keypad) and at the same time, press the power button once to switch on your notebook.

Yeah, I tried it a few times.. It hasn't worked once.. By the way I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate.. Not sure if that matters.

I have moved your issue to the Windows 7 forum Ninja.

Can you boot up normally, although slow, and if so can you post a screen shot of what it says in Disk Management please.

Has someone installed Windows 7 as either a Retail or OEM version as there is no recovery partition?

That was not what I asked, however have a read of this as you should be able to make some Recovery disks.

There isn't an option to do that on my laptop.. And for that question, I just realised.. It was originally Windows 7 Home Premium, but then I got it upgraded to Ultimate and I no longer have the disc...

Then it is as I say because when you or whoever installed that other version of Windows 7 they wiped out the recovery partition and the only way to get things back to what could be termed as a factory condition is to do a brand new install.

What happened to the disk?
