Cannot Drag and Drop from explorer to applications?

this used to work... now it doesn't. in traktor or nero or any kind of program, if i want to drag an mp3 and 'load' it, it simply will not work. just makes an x'd out circle instead of the usual pointer+box. what is going on? i recently installed avast (already have comodo) and i didnt realize it might make conflicts so i uninstalled it now. could this be the culprit? im about to run the avast cleaning tool in safe mode, i think i only did it in regular... but what else could cause this behaviour? driving me nuts not being able to drag and drop an mp3 into nero/etc
