My Windows Vista is set up with me as administrator/owner. There is one other user. No passwords were assigned and I have never been asked for one until a couple of days ago. I cannot log on to my account at all; however, I can log on under the other user,but cannot access my own account. I started the computer in safe mode, and logged on under the other user. I typed in "net user (my name) *, and it shows that there is no password set, and indicates that it can be changed. It shows changes made on June 13, but I did not make any changes, nor did the other user. I get a prompt to set a password, but it indicates access denied error 5. In addition, it gives a hint for my password which is my three grandchildren's names, one of which is misspelled. I have tried everything I can think of. I am concerned that my computer has been hacked. Is there any way I can fix this?

Thank you.

Unfortunately Geeks To Go is unable to help on this occasion Msmmm due to the ruling in Terms of Use, Section 3, Part O which states thus;

Due to the nature of online help we are not able to verify ownership, and will not be able to help bypass or recover any user passwords, cd keys, license codes, serial numbers, etc.

Thank you.

Excuse the interjection folks :)

If the computer is an OEM brand name that was purchased from a company such as Dell or HP etc they may be able to help you correct this, an alternative if you still have the sales receipt for the computer you could take it to a reputable tech store and have them put it right, you will also require a photo ID such as a driving license or passport for this.
