Hello
I have been reinstalling a Windows Vista 32bit desk top PC and found that the mouse pointer freezes randomly on the screen.
Things I've done to try to stop it freezing are as follows:
1: Checked the mouse is plugged in firmly.
2: Done a scan disk.
3: Done a sfc /scannow.
4: Ran AV software (MBAM, MSE, MBAM rootkit) Nothing found.
5: Cleaned Junk and defragged.
6: Updated the mouse driver.
7: Checked the opticle light thingy that glows red is not obstructed or dirty.

It didn't stick with the 1st install of Vista with no programs (not sp1 or 2)

Can anyone help me find whats going on with this mouse please
Thank's
o0o

Hi ZTrucker in short not yet, as I have ordered one but its not arrived. There be no pc shop here just sheep baaa. I will borrow one and try for now.
Saying that though I'm fairly sure it's not the mouse as when first installed just bare Vista no service packs or programs it works fine. The lady who's Pc it is did come here she said a while ago but got lost in all the technical stuff as shes not technical minded and in the last year has destroyed so many electronic things from satellite TVs, phones, computers, even an xray machine lol
I will try the mouse and get back to you

Thank you

When did it start happening?
How often does it happen?

If it's easy to reproduce, try this: How to perform a clean boot to troubleshoot a problem in Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista

Hi ZTrucker
It started happening when I installed I think after sp2 and a few programs got installed as well.

It happens every 5 mins or so.

Thanks for the link about troubleshooting using clean boot. Clean boot is new to me and I'm looking forward to giving it a go.

Thank you

I feel a tad silly it was the mouse after all you where right. It is strange though that the old mouse worked fine with vista SP1 but after I installed all the other bits to bring it up to date it went skitz.
well I guess you can close this thread, I will shuffle off quietly so as not to be noticed.

Thanks ZTrucker for your help  and teaching me about clean boot which I'd never herd of before, it may come in useful in the future and prevent me from wasting anyone else's time.

Agreed, no waste of time here. Every time I try to help someone I learn something.

Just glad you found the problem.
