Hello, I need help with a used laptop, attempting to create a recovery disk and when I attempt to put it on a disc, I get a message that states, The parameter is incorrect. (0x80070057).

Thank you for any help you can give me.

Naathim,

I went to the link that you posted, attempted both step 1 and step 2 w/the fix it, did not try to edit the registry values due to not wanting to try something I am not familiar with doing, neither worked. Is there something else I can do to fix this problem.

Thank you,

Tracy

Sorry for the delay.

I'll try to prepare exact instructions for manual registry fix tomorrow.

Hello.

I've tried to reach the same registry key on my OS, but I couldn't.

Tell me please what's exactly your version of Windows.

I'll be honest...
I think there's a problem. M$ wants to perform a fix on a key which I don't have on my Windows 7, and that's odd to me

I need some more time to do some research.

Hi

Let's do some search in the registry. We need to access it by regedit.exe. I advice extreme precaution and not to modify anything in there. It may cause your system unstable or even unbootable.

Push both Windows key & R button -> type in: regedit.exe and press enter.

Search for key (using the extended list at left side):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\System

Click once on the "System" subkey.
Then Go to File -> export -> save as filetype: *.txt and name it somehow.

I hate when M$ messes with their own systems.

I know what is the problem, and it's located in the article.

One more registry searching, for a different subkey:
