I'll be more than happy to work with you on getting this resolved. The way I like to 'operate' is to post my responses in steps, in which I ask that you do them in order and not to start the next step until you complete the one prior. With that being said, let's get to it!
TESTING: Safe Mode Test
What I'd like you to do is to boot your computer up into Safe Mode, which you can do by pressing and holding the F8 key as your computer restarts or turns on. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you will need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then shutting down and restarting your computer. One you see the Advanced Options menu, which will be white text on black background, please scroll down using your arrow keys to 'Safe Mode'. Once you have that highlighted/selected, press the 'ENTER' key. At this point it should start to load up Windows in Safe Mode. Try logging in with your Administrator account here. If this works without any issue, please go ahead and create a new administrator account (allows us to work more with your machine). Then post back stating if it works. Then, after you post back please continue on to the next steps. STEP ONE: Testing
Please restart your computer now but after you get to the black screen (provided it is still there and slow) - Open up your Task Manager once again. This time go to 'File' and then select 'Run new task'. You should now see a window with a text box, in which I need you to type: explorer.exe and press OK. This command or 'task' is to start your Windows Explorer. This may kick start it, so to speak, into loading the final items.
If the above item did not make any changes, please go to STEP TWO. If your computer is running a bit more normal at this time, please go to STEP THREE. The steps are the same roughly, so you will NOT need to do both. STEP TWO: System File Check (SFC)
- I'd like you to start a System File Check (SFC). This is a built in system tool that Microsoft has for checking the current file systems out and making any necessary repairs. To do this, you will need to open up an Command Prompt, which you can do by following these easy steps:
- Press the following three keys at once: CTRL+SHIFT+ESC
- If done appropriately, you should have a Task Manager window open
- Then select File from the top menu
- Then select 'Run new task'
- You should now see a window with a text box, in which I need you to type: CMD
- Now press the button 'OK'
SFC /SCANNOW > "C:\Users\Public\Desktop\SFC Results.txt"This may take a while, so please try not to interrupt it or use the PC as much as possible while it runs. Once it is done, it will go back to the original line of text you saw. At that point, I need you to look on your desktop for the text file named "SFC Results.txt". Please copy and paste that into another reply, in which then we can review. STEP THREE:
- I'd like you to start a System File Check (SFC). This is a built in system tool that Microsoft has for checking the current file systems out and making any necessary repairs. To do this, you will need to open up an Elevated Command Prompt, which you can do by following these easy steps:
- Open your Start Menu
- Select All Programs
- Then select Accessories
- 'Right Click' on Command Prompt
- Select Run as administrator from the Context Menu
SFC /SCANNOW > "C:\Users\Public\Desktop\SFC Results.txt"This may take a while, so please try not to interrupt it or use the PC as much as possible while it runs. Once it is done, it will go back to the original line of text you saw. At that point, I need you to look on your desktop for the text file named "SFC Results.txt". Please copy and paste that into another reply, in which then we can review. Alright bluepills, after you've completed step one and either two or three and posted the text file results - I'd like you to reboot and see if the Administrator account is working properly or not. Please post back if you notice any changes and if it works or not.
