I went to msconfig and disabled "all".. restarted. Downloaded all vista updates. I get the message that this machine doesn't have isscript.msi and that I should install it but I find nowhere to download such a thing. I just want Roxio off my laptop. I can't upgrade to W7, already ran the test to see if it's compatible and this laptop doesn't have enough memory for that. Any ideas?

First and foremost, welcome to Geeks To Go's forums! I hope you stick around and share your knowledge and learn from the rest of us! Now as for your issue, I've posted two steps in which you should follow to go ahead and follow.

STEP ONE: Roxio Removals
  • Well beyond just using your Windows Uninstaller, which you can access by following these steps:
  • Push the 'Windows Key' and 'R' at same time (the 'Windows Key' is located between Ctrl and Alt)
  • Copy and paste or type out the following into the 'Run' window: appwiz.cpl
  • Select the program you wish to remove and click 'Uninstall'
If that is still not working out for you, you can use another program called RevoUninstaller:
STEP TWO: Temp File Cleaner
Once you finish the removals for Roxio and have rebooted your PC, I highly recommend you download Temp File Cleaner (TFC). Once you've downloaded that utility, close out of all your other programs and give it a run. If it asks to reboot your PC, please do it.
Once you've rebooted, you should be good to go! Let me know if you need any more help with it.

Thanks for the welcome and the advice but neither one worked. I get the same message as when I use the regular uninstall command on the control panel. Any other advice?

You could try reinstalling Roxio then uninstalling it. That often fixes problems like this.

Follow the same steps here just input Roxio where the Lexmark 8300 series laserjet printer is.

Also unticking the roxio items with autoruns might help.

I am not sure if roxio is included in the windows installer but this tool could help.

Also enabling the windows installer in safemode with the tool below may help you to uninstall roxio in safemode if the above methods fail.

One of the methods above should surely help.
