Hey guys. I just picked up from a person i work for...a '07 HP Pavilion a6130n. It was given to me because they said it had the BSOD and they couldn't get it started. I got it home, plugged it in and turned it on. No BSOD appeared. I created a set of Recovery disks immediately. Then i reformatted the entire computer. Installed ALL the updates, Installed Norton and did a full scan. Everything came back great. The computer was working great, no problems. Then today it did "IT" twice. I removed the side panel and noticed alot of dust. I'm planning on thoroughly cleaning it out. I did got to "Hardware Diagnostic Tools" and check everything! All passed which was good. Is it possible i just need to clean it out really good or am i missing something. Thanks to anyone who can help me.

Yes cleaning the machine should help, heat can cause bsod.

Also re-seat the hardware.

You could as well upload the dump files for me. :)

Even though the hardware tools/tests passed, can you check your capacitors out for me? To do this, read step one. After which, I will also request we get some information from the PC through a utility called MiniToolBox, which is in step two.

STEP ONE: Checking CapacitorsPlease post back with your findings, including a number count and possible pictures (if you have that option available to you).STEP TWO: Intel Gathering Via MTB
  • At this point and time I'd like you to get the utility MiniToolBox and run it with the following checked items.
    • List content of Hosts
    • List last 10 Event Viewer Errors
    • List Installed Programs
    • List Devices
    • Only-Problems (leave it checked)
  • List Users, Partitions and Memory Size
  • List Minidump Files
  • List Restore Points

After you've selected just the above items, please then hit GO. Once it's done running, which normally doesn't take too long, it will have a text or log file pop up. Please copy & paste that into a reply.
