It should work because all you are doing is transferring a file.
Did I understand you correctly earlier and you can't get the RC?

Any possible way to borrow a full XP disk instead of a branded version?

In other words I believe you said your XP was a recovery disk from Dell?
What I was asking if you know someone who has a Full XP installation disk that does not go to a brand name system like Dell, HP, Compaq or something like that.
The reason I say that is because I haven't been able to find a alternate site to download the RC from.

Oh ok no. Most of my friends all have the iPad or a mac book. I have an old Dell tower I am going to hook up. I am hoping I can use it. It used to my my youngest sons cpu ... but not sure why he stopped using it.

Are you still having the Blue Screens on the Dell or are you still not able to boot into windows correctly?
Let me ask is your kb and mouse USB?

No I haven't gotten the blue screen at all ... all was working well until I d/l that drive. Once I did that the kb and mouse just stopped working. Yes they are both USB. Wasn't having a problem booting.
I tried going into safe mode and going to into last config that worked (can't recall what it was called) as previously requested but once in I still couldn't do anything bc of the kb and mouse.

By chance do you have or can you get a PS2 kb and mouse?
It may be that if you can use a PS2 kb and mouse you can get into windows and then uninstall the last driver or drivers for the USB and then everything should work fine then.
