Ok, in recent conversations that I have had with some people, encouraging NOT to use downloads.com, people think that it is safe to download from that site, where I found that its how you get that conduit malware very easily. Whats your guys take on this?

Hello KiwiProbe :)

Generally, Download.com is a safe site. I used to use it a lot, but not so much now. I have found the occasional unnecessary crapware that comes bundled with it, the CNET Downloader and the lot.

I like www.softpedia.com they include descriptions for every software with alerts about the included crap.

All the downloads from Softpedia are clean but the site uses Ads and sometimes you can see misleading download buttons if you don't use an Ad blocker like Adblock plus or AdFender.

After using the site for some time it's easy to download safely even with the ads, you must click the Posted Image image always below the program screenshots
on the second page click one of the secure or external links :
Posted Image Softpedia Mirror (US)
Posted Image Softpedia Mirror (UK)

Simply ignore any other download buttons from the advertised products.

  I downloaded a bundle from CNET not only did it have the suspicious.cloud.9 on it, it also disabled auto google updates in my registry, and i didn't know about it until i noticed that everyone had version 32 of google and i didn't. I ended up having to go into my registry and resetting my google update folder to a 1. So i don't trust that site for downloads anymore. Norton security caught the cloud 9 thing and quarantined it,but i still had to fix the registry. :thumbsup:Softpedia worked well for me also.I have used them plenty without one single problem!
