Having purchased a Windows 8 laptop a few months back I spent quite a while configuring it to give it the appearance as near as possible to XP or Windows 7 using classic shell to restore the start button menu & skip metro suite to log on directly to the desktop.
This machine was for a relative who is not PC savvy.
She has had it a while now & everything has been fine, she has the desktop, start menu with no problem

She switched the laptop on a few hours ago & once loaded this window appeared on the desktop.

Her desktop is there but it is blanketed by what looks like a configuration file for skip metro suite. Ignore the small dialogue box, that was me taking a snapshot through team viewer.
The red close tab is not active & therefore will not close, right clicking on the task bar to close that window, that is not active either.
The only solution I found was for her to go into task manager & kill that window which worked.
Restarting her machine the window appeared yet again.
Can anyone help me please, I don't have Windows 8 so I cannot replicate the problem.

Thank you

Really sorry for the delay in replying.

Being a bit anxious about losing skip metro suite completely I suggested to my relative that she did a system restore forst to see if that solved the problem.
Like magic it did!

Thank you any way for your suggestion.
