
Toolbar and shortcuts don't respond to mouse

Gday mlwjackson, welcome back.
If you can run in Safe Mode with networking, download the AVG Removal Tool and save to the Desktop.
Restart the computer in Safe Mode, without networking.
Turn on System Restore.
Run the AVG Removal Tool.
When done, restart in normal mode.

I was able to remove AVG but it did not resolve the problem. The computer is nearly new with nothing critical loaded. I'm tempted to just wipe it and do a clean install.

I would wipe it and start over. Leave out Comodo and AVG, stay with the Windows 7 firewall and go with Microsoft Security Essentials, at least for awhile. See how that goes.
