My roomate bought a computer off ebay. Supposed to be for gaming, but apparently came with a pirated copy of Windows 7. Now wont come off of blue screen errors. Would like to update OS to Window 8 and start over with a new OS, but 1> dont know which OS to buy, and 2> not sure if there are any virus' onboard right now, is there any way to check and will install a new OS fix those?

Thanks
Hbaril1972

Dont have access to any of the specs anymore, but I do know ita supposed to be an ACER desktop.

Hi Hbaril1972 :welcome:

So you don't know the machine specs? Post the Brand and model number of the laptop.

Did you notice if the machine have the Windows COA Sticker?

Note: Usually the sticker is on the back of the laptop but in some cases you have to remove the battery to see it.

Well, it's a desktop, but the paperwork that came with it does have one of those stickers, just comes up as an invalid passcode, when whe tried to reinstall windows, thinking that was the problem.
