I have had nothing but trouble with downloading java or free antivirus first turning off all the "security" UAC smart filter that stop you downloading then everytime i click on a setup file i get an error (the file is corrupt) (installer cannot open the sfx archive) or some other message i dont understand an
i originally bought McAfee but couldnt install it neither could McAfee remote helper it just does nothing without an error or crash its a new laptop !!!!

I note that you have also started a topic on the malware forums, if both topics concern the same computer I`m afraid that as you suspect a malware infection we are restricted here with what we can suggest until a member of the malware staff gives your computer the all clear.

What I can suggest is that you check that Windows Defender is enabled in the Security Centre as this will at least ensure that you have AV protection while you wait for assistance from the malware staff, for further information on Windows Defender please see the admin topic here

Yes its the same computer i will wait for the other post then i can browse the internet but it wont fully download setup files it when i try and download avast in chrome it starts normal gets to 4mb of 80mb and stops like its finished in internet explorer you can even get that far caould a virus do that type of thing?

Have you checked if Defender is enabled.

I can`t begin to speculate what malware can do to your computer.

NB: Have you ensured that Google Chrome is your default browser and that IE is disabled.

have tried enabling and disabling defender uac accounts smart filter firewall doesnt seem to matter uploading and downloading dont seem to work properly
