Access C Drive on networked computer

I tried to access the C Drive on a windows 8.1 computer from a windows 7 computer and got the access denied error. The C Drive has sharing enabled and full permissions for everyone. I can access other partitions on the 8.1 pc with no problem. This isn't a major problem as I can transfer files from the 8.1 pc to the 7 pc. I was just wondering why this was happening.

You can't access the default share. You need to set up a new one and grant access. For instance, on my Win 8 system, I have these shares:

net share
