Why my laptop couldn't search for wifi network?

One of my roommate create a personal WiFi hotspot with my wifi router software,others' tablet and phones can get connected well, except for my laptop.I had restart the wireless network adapter,but nothing would change.Do you know what can I do about this problem?

Does your wireless adapter see the hotspot but just will not connect or does it just not see the hotspot at all? Is there any security on this hotspot? Do users have to supply a password to logon and use the hotspot? If not, your laptop maybe set to only work with secure WIFI connections.
