Firstly, I apologise if this is in the wrong section,

Anyway, for months I've been suffering with constant connection drop outs and limited connectivity, I found out that Windows 8.1 could cause some issues with the wireless card drivers, I fixed the issue and a new one started, the internet is stable, just WAAAAAAAAAY to slow. I'm with AOL on a 2mbps connection so I'm aware it's already pretty slow but the speed on my machine is just something else slow.. (My machine is the only one affected in the house)

From device manager, I changed the Windows driver for my card to the official manufacturers  one, this kinda fixed the issue before it buggered itself again. Long story short, after trying EVERYTHING, resorting to the previous firmware of my wireless card fixed it (there's only 2 for my model anyway) however, the connection is just unbelievably slow.

Thanks in advance guys.

You need to give us some information about your computer.

Make and full model number?

Did you install Update 1 yet?

Sorry, that doesn't tell me a thing.

What is the make and full model number of the motherboard?

Are there any BIOS updates available?

What is the make and model number of the wireless card? Try replacing the wireless card?

Northy94 here, account got messed up and couldn't get in, specs as follow: Mobo = Gigabyte GA-880GM-USB3 I was originally using a TP-Link wireless dongle, it worked but then this issue occurred months back at my other house. Wireless = TP-Link 300mpbs Wireless N PCI Express Adapter, model TL-WN881ND. It was updated to the latest stuff, originally using the Microsoft drivers, I then changed it to the official TP ones, the latest driver worked for a day, the issue the started again, tried everything and only began to work when I installed the drivers from the disk, just yeah its still super slow. My apologies for the late reply.

Looks like a nice wireless card. Does the wireless work if you boot to Safe Mode with Networking?

To get there:

Press Windows key + C.
Settings
Power
Hold shift key and click RESTART.
Click on Advanced Options then Startup Settings.
Click Restart and you have almost the full advanced Boot Options menu like XP, Vista or Win 7.

Pick Safe Mode with Networking.
