So we have two Macs here, both running Mavericks and both connected to the same network. All we want to do is simply allow file sharing between the two. Doesn't sound that difficult I know but we are finding it almost impossible. We've followed numerous tutorials and to no avail.

What we have done so far is gone on to the Sharing Preferences and ticked the File Sharing box. We've chosen which files are to be shared and written the permissions to Everyone can 'Read and Write'. We then go to finder to find the device, not there. We then type the AFP and SMB addresses hoping that would work but no. It would sit there trying to connect for a while but then show a failed message.

If anyone is able to help that would be fantastic as we are completely stumped!
