Internet explorer did not finish installing

Hi,I did something wrong,I think I deleted something by mistake,but now I can't get internet explorer,when I try to re-download it,I get this message"Internet explorer did not finish installing",because a more recent version of IE is already installed,what can I do to fix this?

What version of Internet Explorer are you running ? You can see that by opening Internet Explorer, clicking on the little gear icon and select "About Internet Explorer".
What version of Internet Explorer are you trying to install ?
Are you running Windows Vista or Windows 7 ?
