Thank you, okay so I've downloaded the new copy of Windows 7, activated it, but now I cannot get online. I'm assuming I need a specific driver? My PC is a Lenovo H330. I've tried downloading what I thought was the correct driver but nothing's happening.

Are the drivers the correct Windows 7 32 or 64-bit, did you get the driver from here and did you install the Lenovo chipset drivers from here once Windows was installed, you must do this for your hardware to function correctly + you are best to download and save all of the drivers needed to a USB thumb drive or burn them to disk for safekeeping.

Looks like the 330 has a Atheros wireless card. The driver on their web site is for 32 and 64 bit:

Took a look at the specs for your computer here and it says that it does not have any wireless device, can you check in the Device Manager to see what is listed under Network Adapters and post back with an update.

Sorry but have I missed where you mentioned this.

The drivers for that device here is that what you installed.

Does that sound right to you or does the computer normally connect to the internet using a wireless network card.

If you have something to add while waiting for a reply use the edit tab – bottom right of the dialogue input box and this will ensure that no information that you provide is overlooked (this can happen if your topic has more than one page)

Just wondering, would the relevant drivers be in the folder called Windows.old? I did search in there and it came up with loads of results but too many for me to understand it all

That is great news

Glad we could help and you are most welcome btw  :)

NB: Make sure that you create a new restore point now that things are sorted and at your earliest convenience create a back up image of your hard drive using Macrium Reflect (free) from here
