Hi I am having issue where admin account went completely blank except for mouse cursor but non admin account pulls up fine. My little brother deleted files including Google chrome after finding malware on the computer. Antivirus software ended and brother told me he activated windows defender (using windows 8.1) but never did thus malware infects our pc. I restored internet explorer and enabled windows defender and re downloaded Google chrome. Also I installed bitdefender free edition for malware protection. All this was done on standard user account but of course I needed admin permission to do it. After running sfc this is what the results are:

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log Windir\logs\CBS\CBS.Log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.Log. Note that logging is currently not supported in offline servicing scenarios

Please help me if possible with this issue and thank you in advance

:welcome:   bullhead891337,

Try a refresh of the OS following the steps suggested by Microsoft here

Once done follow the GTG self help tutorial here to check for malware.

Good luck and any non malware related questions please ask here

Sorry I am not able to do a reset right now because I do not have a disk drive to reinstall potentially missing files. We opted out of that option because it was cheaper. I will have to download the Windows program to a usb stick before I can continue so once I'm able to do that I will get back with u. I apologize for not updating the thread
