In Windows 7 I could create a new toolbar and select computer giving me a toolbar on the taskbar that showed the drives in the system. In 8.1 I can still do this but it also adds the favorites when I select This PC. Is there a way to add only the drives to this new toolbar as it was a nice feature to have on the taskbar.

Has to be deselected through settings of toolbar, get rid of it.

Thanks, there's apparently no workaround as "This PC" is not only the physical drives but the folders too. I guess I can get used to it but to conserve taskbar space I set the view to small icons. I guess worse case is I could create a folder somewhere and drag the drives in but then that wouldn't update the taskbar with a removable drive but at least it would give me quick drive access. This may not even be an issue once I get used to 8.1/10. I just found it very convenient in Windows7 being able to set Computer as a new toolbar on the task bar and have all my drives one click away.

As said never used this feature in Windows 7 or 8.1. File explorer in Windows 8.1 is already pinned to taskbar showing all your drives, you can pin to taskbar individually, so you can pin a Drive to taskbar also, best you can do i think, knowing you want it as a toolbar.

You know i use software called Stardock ObjectDesktop works good for me, unclutters desktop, can be hidden, make all kinds of docks. Check it out here about $9.99 U.S.
