What is Binkiland New Tab?

The Malwarebytes research team has determined that Binkiland New Tab is a browser hijacker. These so-called "hijackers" manipulate your browser(s), for example to change your startpage or searchscopes, so that the affected browser visits their site or one of their choice. This one also displays advertisements.

Browser hijackers use different methods for distributing themselves. This particular one was downloaded from the PlayStore.

How do I remove Binkiland New Tab?

Our program Malwarebytes Anti-Malware can detect and help you remove this potentially unwanted program.
It is important to remove the extension from Chrome first.

• Find the Extension under Tools > Settings > Extensions.
  
• Make sure the Developer Mode is NOT checked
• Click the "Details" link beneath the Binkiland entry
• In this screen click the "Remove" button:
  
• Repeat that in this screen. Click the "Remove" button:
  
• If necessary, remove the checkmark "Enabled" behind the Binkiland New Tab entry.
• If necessary, click on the bin behind the Binkiland New Tab entry.

After you have done this close Chrome and follow the instructions below.

• Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware to your desktop.
• Double-click mbam-setup-version.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
• At the end, be sure a check-mark is placed next to the following:
  • Enable free trial of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium
  • Launch Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
• Then click Finish.
• If an update is found, you will be prompted to download and install the latest version.
• Once the program has loaded, select Scan now. Or select the Threat Scan from the Scan menu.
• When the scan is complete , make sure that everything is set to "Quarantine", and click Apply Actions.
• Reboot your computer if prompted.
