Hi,

I have an acer2216w monitor that is acting strange. It's about 5 years old I think. When I turn the monitor on the power light comes on (stays green)and the screen will flash quickly and then it's black.I have the computer hooked up to the tv via HDMI and the tv screen works fine.I can usually get the monitor to work by turning it on and off, eventually it will come on.This usually takes turning it on and off about 50 to 60 times I would guess.Unfortunately I do not have another monitor here to swap out to see what it would do.I have checked all connections,no change. Also have re-seated graphics card and memory sticks.I have heard that the capacitors can go bad after awhile but before I rip it apart to check the caps I was wondering if you may have an idea what could be going on with it.

 thanks.

try the monitor on a different computer, does it behave the same? if it does, it's definitely the monitor (I assume it is already based on the description)...you'll need to get a new one
