Buy it now and get new features via a future firmware upgrade! Newegg.com has the new NEC ND-3540A Black 16x Dual Layer DVD Burner for a low $62.99 with free FedEx shipping.

So you’ve always wanted to scale new dimensions in read and write performance with your DVDs and CDs? Now you can obtain impressive results even faster with the ND-3540. It reaches speeds of 16x in playing your DVDs. If you want to play CDs, it can reach speeds of 48x. And it is equally impressive in burning optical storage media as well: It writes DVD+R and DVD-R formats at speeds up to 16x, DVD+RW at speeds up to 8x and DVD-RW at speeds up to 6x. Equally impressive are its numbers for disks in the DVD+R DL (8x) and DVD-R DL (4x) formats.

and I just bought a Pioneer DVR-109, it was no easy choice.

If I don't like it that much I'll just buy an NEC 3520 or 3540 ;)
