Hi, guys.

I'll start here and if I am in the wrong spot, please direct me. Internet explorer has started acting funny. Sometimes when I look something up on Google, IE will disappear from the screen. I see the desktop. With a little spinning circle that shows IE is running. After a bit, IE reappears, open to what I was looking for.

Is this normal for IE? Has never happened before.

Win7, IE 11

Hello tjmcs,

Did you update the IE11 for windows 7?

If not ten go here--> security update for Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 7

Also try to reset your IE11 if the above not works....

Note: this will erase all your data, password, bookmarks and everything. It is similar to new installation of IE11

To reset Internet Explorer settings

  • Close all Internet Explorer windows that are currently open.
  • Open the desktop, and then tap or click the Internet Explorer icon on the taskbar. Changing your settings will affect both Internet Explorer and Internet Explorer for the desktop.
  • Tap or click the Tools button  Tools, and then tap or click Internet options.
  • Tap or Click the Advanced tab, and then tap or click Reset.
  • In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, tap or click Reset.
  • When Internet Explorer finishes applying default settings, tap or click Close, and then tap or click OK. You'll need to restart your PC for these changes to take effect.

I looked for the update and did not find it. I'm not a computer whiz (reason I am here) but I find it strange that I could not find any updates over a month old on a two year old system...went to programs and features and clicked on show installed updates. I will install from your link and see what happens. If I am still having the issue, I will reset IE.

Thank you.

Dashing Star,

Could not update from your link. Said it was not compatible with my system. Did find some updates from Microsoft that had not installed. Installed them and all seems good so far. If I have more trouble I will reset IE.

Thank you.

I am having a strange problem with the Internet Explorer 11 and using Windows 10. I have no IE- 11 icon

. No icon in start apps, all apps, or on the task bar? When I tried to download "Make IE-11 my default search engine"I was told that ( I already have Internet Explorer 11.) I stumbled upon an IE-11 listing in the event viewer, r-click start icon, somehow. So it's in my computer. My question is: How do I get it out and my IE 11 icon back ?

I have searched Cortina, Windows help, and multiple websites only to find : NO answers that apply or are in Windows 10. I've learned that this is my best shot of finding an answer my problems.

Well… I searched everywhere I could find an Internet explorer icon (in all of them file locations) clicked on it (left & right) till I found a pin to start and then pinned it to the taskbar and made it my search engine, correcting my problem. What's and OP and OS, I'm just learning this stuff and really don't know where to post a  question  here ?
