It's been over a year and the wife runs windows updates and it says that the updates failed.

I don't have a error code.  This presents her a problem because she will not be able to update to windows 10.

I have tried to stop the update service and then restart it.  Please help us solve this ongoing problem.

Hi,

Please run the Microsoft fix tool for Windows Update problems available on the following link:
https://support.micr...en-us/kb/971058

After this restart the computer and then try to install updates, if you see any error code please post the code.

Thank you Sleepy Dude for your prompt reply:  Wife ran the troubleshooter and it said that it needed to install the updater service.

rebooted and tried to run windows (Microsoft) updates again and got the following error code: Code 80070643.

Could it be a dot net 4.5.1 service problem? (update?)

Hi,

Yes it could be a problem with .Net Framework, lets run some checks...
  • Download SFCFix.exe (by Niemiro) and save it to the Desktop
  • Run SFCFix (accept the security warning and follow the instructions on the screen)
  • Upon completion, a log file SFCFix.txt should be created on your Desktop
  • Open the SFCFix.txt log and copy & paste the contents to your post
