I wonder if there is free s/w out there with which I can convert a PDF file into a text file?
It can either be WordPad or OpenOffice or .txt?

Adobe Reader has a feature to export a PDF into documents compatible with Word or any software that supports .docx/doc, you just have to have an Adobe account I believe.
