I just opened two new accounts the second one ran fine.

The first one didn't.

I have no two step setups, only a mobile number on each account for verification.

I can login to both accounts through hotmail website.

Despite this, Thunderbird keeps saying "configuration could not be verified"

Pop Peeper says "server error 200."

"--- Version ---
OS: Windows 7 (x64)
POP Peeper: 4.0.1.0
Webmail: 4.0.26.0
SSL: 1.0.1.8
IMAP: 4.0.1.0
SendMail: 4.0.1.0

--- Web Test ---
Result: 200
Error:
Time: 22:06:04 - 22:06:04 (0 s) (-0000)
Data: Wed, 24 Feb 2016 14:05:59 -0800

--- Error ---
*** Email address is removed for privacy *** [0: POP3] ['pop-mail.outlook.com' (995) SSL: 1] [Smtp: 'smtp-mail.outlook.com' (587) SSL: 2]
Login Error (mailbox could not be opened)
"

I changed all the login settings on both software, and then the password from website.

The softwares still reject the login.

Why is this happening?

Okay so I logged in again for the first time since posting.

Thunderbird accepted the password.

Pop Peeper finally gave me a useful message: pop disabled in options on outlook.com.

I am curious as to why this magically got fixed without me doing anything for thunderbird.

Also curious why pop peeper didn't override like thunderbird. But glad that it informed me where to look next time.
