I upgraded the memory in my hp elitebook 8560p.  Added an additional 4gb of ram giving me 6gb. total.  Now getting several different errors during bootup:

page fault in non paged area when booting up

system thread exception not handled

Any ideas.  I tried some different memory and got Kernel security check failure.

my system seems to be only happy going back to the original ram.

Any ideas?  I have upgraded the bios to the latest version.

Hi,

Most likely the machine doesn't like the configuration you have because the motherboard runs in Dual-channel mode

Dual-channel: Maximized dual-channel performance requires SODIMMs of the same size and speed in both memory slots.

The new sodimm have the same specs as the other 2GB?

As you found out, the RAM must 100% compatible in order to work correctly. Run Crucial.com's System Scanner to determine exactly what's need in that system. They guarantee their recommended RAM to be 100% compatible or your money back.

I tried the following;

ddr3-1600 pc3-12800 (4 x 2) didn't work , though it does work in my other laptops

ddr3-pc3 -10600 (kingston value ram)

original ram is dd3-pc-10600 (samsung)

There isn't 100% certain I installed 3GB (2+1) of ram in a laptop where the manufacture and the Crucial scanner all say max 2GB! The machine worked just fine.

@Starjax: The link for Crucial website doesn't match your machine!

- The voltage and timings of the RAM are the same?

- Did you try with only one of those 4GB ddr3-1600 pc3-12800?

SleepyDude is Correct.

Here's what Crucial's site says about your machine starjax:

Crucial.com > HP - Compaq EliteBook 8560p

Your HP - Compaq EliteBook 8560p
system specs as shipped

memory

Maximum memory: 16384MB
Slots:2 (2 banks of 1)

And, they should be installed in pairs,

and, these pairs should really come in a "kit" so that they are an exactly matched pair.
