Can you expand your question a bit?
Side by side as: two physical displays or two windows snapped to 1/2 screen or two virtual desktops?
For physical: Set up multiple monitors - Windows - Microsoft
For snap: Aero Snap - Turn On or Off in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums
For virtual, see here: How to Use Virtual Desktops in Windows 10

ztruker: My question was badly put; sorry. I want to work with two documents, shown side-by-side on a single, common monitor -- not with two different monitors. ...batpark

Gday.
As ztruker is offline, some suggestions for you. Search for, windows 10 split screen.

Other option if you have to work with, say five+ aplications, may be a bit slow if you have limited RAM.
