Scneal7,
Could be static caused by a build up of dust inside the computer, when was the last time it had a clean out.
so I unplugged it and took out the battery
Gives the impression that you have a notebook type computer, if yes, try connecting it to an external screen to see if the problem is also present on that.
Tip
Do not reply to your own OP or last reply as it may lead to your request for help being overlooked, staff and members who assist on the forums will always check out a topic that has not received any replies to see if they are able to help, if you reply to your own OP it will appear to others viewing the board that you have received a reply and so are already being helped.

Tried plugging my computer to my tv after having it turned off all day, but the tv said there was no recogized connection even though it showed something plugged into the port.
You may need to toggle the display from the notebook to the TV, so we can do some research on the notebook, post the brand and model name or number.
I haven't cleaned inside my laptop computer in forever because I don't know how. Looked underneath it and didn't notice any dust or anything.
The dust builds up inside the computer and clogs up the cooling fan among other things, how bad it is depends on how and where the computer is used, a notebook should be used on a flat and even surface to allow the air to circulate through the vents and if there are pets around cat/dog hairs can clog up the insides.

Polite reminder
Please avoid adding multiple posts while waiting for us to reply to your last post, edit your last post to include anything that you wish to add, this will ensure nothing gets overlooked which can sometimes happen if a thread has more than one page.
