I'm having a panic attack. I uninstalled bitdefender trial, as I was not pleased with it, and was going to go back to Panda AV. I rebooted my W7 machine, and it forced itself into safe mode, and the kind of safe mode that the wifi doesn't work. And I tried & tried to make the Windows 7 start windows normally, but it keeps going back to the same safe mode.

Am I kind of screwed here in this situation?

Hello SpaceDonkey1stClass,

Have you tried starting the computer in Safe Mode yourself by tapping the F8 key when you restart the computer, if not, give it a try to see if you can select a system restore point that is before this issue first happened.

FWIW: I suspect that uninstalling Bitdefender and this happening may be a pure coincidence.

Hello! Thank you for your time and your response. I had an unscheduled visit from a friend who works in the Mayo Clinic help desk, he took a look, and said something corrupted my Windows into just booting into safe mode. We tried restoring to a previous date, 3 times, and it still boots to safe mode. He said, I needed to reinstall Windows, so I did.

Now comes the mind numbing job of reinstalling 50+ programs.

Thank you

Hello SpaceDonkey1stClass,

Glad you got it sorted and thanks for letting us know

Any idea why your friend did not suggest a repair installation.

You are welcome btw   :)

He recommended that I repair, but I wanted to update to Windows 7 Ultimate from home premium. So I did a fresh install. I got a hot deal on W7 Ultimate on ebay.
