I currently have a VOIP phone which plugs in to a router. I am changing provider and one option is the Vodafone R216 which for some reason gives a much better 4G upload and download than the Vodafone router. The difference is 28Mbps download compared to 6Mbps and 17Mbps upload to 1.5Mbps.

As the R216 has no ethernet ports, I was considering using a repeater with ports for the VOIP phone to access the network. How much would the transfer between the R216 unit and the repeater affect the VOIP performance?

WiFi traffic using a range extender will be slower than for WiFi devices connecting directly to the router. Wifi range extenders will always be slower than the actual router. Wifi range extenders wont cut down your internet speed as the internet speed govern by your ISP but Wifi range extenders will have slower WiFi signal speed but this should not affect VOIP performance.
