I think a person in sevenforums.com provided an answer on how to do that without a Windows DVD -- I have no idea on how to search for that post.

Is this an emachines E642, if yes, Press Alt and F10 at the E-Machines logo then choose boot from HDD and press Enter, keep pressing Alt and F10 until it says Loading files.
Please note that the above will only work if there is a functional recovery partition and that you should back up any important data on the HDD first as the process erases all personal data on the HDD.
