Keyboard intermittently cutting out since Fall Creators Update

Z170 Pro Gaming Motherboard

USB 3.0 connection

Dell keyboard - came with XPS 8100 Studio

 

Since update, keyboard randomly cuts out and then I either need to unplug and re-plug or reboot.

 

Tried turning off power saving in settings, didn't work.  Keyboard driver up to date.

Sounds like a driver problem.

 

Try starting in Safe Mode only (no networking) and see if the problem persists.

 

In addition, if you have or if you can borrow a wired PS/2 type keyboard, try that instead and test.

I have ordered a new keyboard, so hopefully that will fix it.  It was 8 years old.  I also updated all firmware and system device drivers and MB Bios.

Would still recommend trying Safe Mode while waiting on the new keyboard.
