I do medical transcription on a virtual machine which has Word 2003 on it and Windows 7.  Now when I go to start a new document/report it opens up as document 2. I don't know where document 1 is!  When I type up the report and go to save and close I get prompted with run time error 5986 and cannot close Microsoft Office Word because a dialogue box is open. If I click that I can then close and save my document but am left with an empty document that I have to exit from before carrying with next report.  Because of this, any macros or auto correction entries I make are not saved when I exit out of the VM for that session.  I do not have administrator privileges or much access to hidden files etc.  I am thinking I may have to contact the computer tech with the company I am employed by but really would like to try to fix the issue first if I can.  Thanks so much!

I think it would be wise to contact your employer to assist with the issue as they may not want you to make system alterations and the like...(hence you not having admin privileges.)
