I bought an LG Soundbar to get better audio on my TV. I installed it; and it seems to work. But I am confused by the manual's descrption of a so-called optical link.
It appears from the manual that the TV audio signal is, somehow, converted to an optical signal within my TV set. And that that optical signal is carried to the Soundbar, where it is reconverted back to the improved audio that I hear?
Is that reading of the manual correct; or (probably) not? Whyever does the process go through those digital/optical conversions?
Can some patient GtGer please straighten me out? Thanks. …... batpark
