I was trying to clean up my boyfriend's Toshiba laptop as it was running real slow and now I can't get the Internet. It's telling me 'WiFi doesn't have a valid IP configuration' is the problem. Help please else he'll never let me touch it (the laptop) again!

What version of Windows?
Did you try System Restore to a day before you messed with it?

Does the laptop see the WiFi signal?
Does it claim it connects?
Is it using a proprietary program to control the WiFi or is Windows controlling it.
Open an Elevated Command Prompt:
Win 7: Start, All Programs, Accessories then right click on Command Prompt and Run as Administrator

Type:
ipconfig
hit Enter.
Look for the section on Wireless Lan
What does it show for IPv4 Address? Subnet Mask? Default Gateway? (Just the one that looks like the IPv4 address)
Now type:
ipconfig /all
hit Enter.
Find the same section. Does it say:
DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes
Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes
Type:
ipconfig /release
hit Enter
When the prompt returns
ipconfig /renew
hit Enter,
When the prompt returns examine the output. Did the IPv4 address or the Default Gateway change? If so what does it say?
Is DHCP service running? To find out you can type:
sc query dhcp
hit Enter. Look at State: should say Running.
