Probably some data became inaccessible after Win 8 updates

One of my colleagues in our office stumbled on a trouble. She tried to extract data from .zip archive that had been created a week ago. She successfully did it, but some of the data disappeared from file. I suggested her to download zip recovery solutions in case built-in instrument doesn't work. We tried to do something with that situation, but all our efforts didn't give any results. We still haven't found a way out. Probably all of this could happen after installing Windows updates three days ago.
