Am I allowed to have a link to my website in my signature?  My website showcases a free program I developed that is meant as a guide for computer security and maintenance.  Although aimed at computer novices, some non-novices may find it useful as well.  Suggestions and links for freeware is included within the program.

My program has had over 4400 downloads from MajorGeeks and over 2800 from Softpedia.

Hello CanDane,

If I may offer an opinion on your question, it may differ to the interpretation of others but I feel that a couple of guidelines come into question.

You do not mention having read the GTG Terms of Use so you may already be aware of the below but fwiw a couple of potential reasons why it would not be appropriate, GTG has a self help guide to help with choosing AV protection and Firewalls etc and the links to freeware that you mention, GTG keeps things tight when it comes to anything security related and any download suggestions would only ever be with the guidance of one of the properly trained security staff.

  • The posting of links in signatures to rival tech sites is not permitted. If you do your post will be subject to editing by a moderator or administrator of Geeks to Go. Continuing to do so will be treated as spam and result in the termination of your membership.
  • If linking to another tech site the resource must not be available on Geeks to Go through either the Support Forums or the rest of the site, and the link must be relevant to the members question.
  • A simple text link to a personal site is okay, as long as it meets our normal family friendly, and safe surfing guidelines. You must own or be closely associated with the site. No banners, referral links, etc.

Hi phillpower2.

Thank you for posting the specific rules that apply to my question.  After reading what you posted I feel it is best for me not to include my website in my signature.

Thank you for your time and effort, I greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for the well wishes pillpower2.  I tried to use the thumbs up icon but a message tells me I'm not allowed, wonder why?

You are welcome CanDane  :)

Not sure about the emoji problem tbh, I recall having a similar problem a few years back, if I clicked on the Show All option the emoji`s wouldn't work but if I used the scroll arrow to the right until I found the emoji that I wanted they would work.
