Okay. There was a Windows update last night and the fan started again today. It was fine yesterday evening. Thanks for your help so far.

I talked to Costco and then HP support. They are having me send it back. Found an error code on a restart of 90B which is a hardware error for the fan.

 

Thanks for your help. At least I found the problem before the warranty expired.
