Hi Guys long time no talk.

I have bricked my S5 phone and was wondering if there is a way to get it going again.

Purchased a new S8 some time ago which started having known issues out of the blue and needed to go back to Samsung. They won't give me a replacement phone so drag out my S5 to use in the meantime.

I did a factory reset on it which seemed to work but then it would not boot or started to boot but came up with the "set warranty bit : kernel" okay after reading a fair bit regarding this I downloaded Odin3 and the current firmware for the S5 and proceeded to load this. I kept on getting a Fail message on this and now I have a "set warranty bit : recovery" message on the S5 and cannot get around it.

It there something I can do now or have I totally bricked it and simply need to chuck it in the recycling bin?

Many thanks in anticipation.

Peter

Thanks SpywareDr.

I've been through a number of these types of answers without luck but I will follow this one through to see if there is anything a little different that might help.

Will report back.

Nah can't get past the Android Recovery screen.

Already wasted a heap of time on this so I think in the bin it goes.

Cheers

Samsung data recover tool may help you get back the data from recycling bin, even the screen is bricked.

Thank you Cora331 I will do some googling (rather duckduckgo ing) to see how to work this.

Cheers

I just realised I cannot see the phone via the PC which I believe is a requirement of the tool :(

Ok I had another shot at this and loaded Odin on the PC along with the firmware from Sammy Mobile.

(was able to get the PC to see the phone in the end)

When I ran Odin it ran through the process and gave me a pass.

Rebooted the phone and carried out a Factory Reset which appeared to work fine.

However when starting the phone I was getting a "set warranty bit : kernel" message and it won't go past this.

I ran through the Odin process as well as the Factory Reset again but still keep getting the "set warranty bit : kernel" message?

I'm confident the firmware I used was for this phone (Australian version) so I don't think it's that.

Anyone have any further ideas thanks??

Cheers

Peter
