I have an iPhone XR.  A few days ago, it stopped sending me texts from two different subsets of the same group, although I could see individual texts from the members of that group.  Some of my texts went out to the group, others didn't.  Forty-eight hours later, I received the 21 missing texts, in bulk.  I had been on iOS 12.4.1, but updated yesterday (after the bulk delivery) to 13.3.  Still no group texts.  I have deleted the two offending group messages, but still can receive nothing in the group format.  Any suggestions?

Thank you, zep516.  For the moment, I'm good after: deleting the threads, a hard reset and resetting all settings.  We'll see how long it lasts.
