Can someone direct me to instructions on using Synaptic Package Manager 0.84.3ubuntu1. Everything on YouTube must be out of date. Nothing looks like what I have which is a recent install from the Zorin 15 Repository.

Much thanks,

Bryan

Hey Malware Removal:

Thanks again for the information you sent me. In the screen shot, I’m using the Search Function in SPM to find Waterfox Browser. After searching, you see that Waterfox shows up in the column to the left. Now, as I understand it, I have to Mark it for installation. But how? Some instructions say double click on it. Some say check the box… there is no box and double clicking does nothing. Under Packages, the Mark for Installation is grayed out. In Help, I don’t see much in the way of instructions when it comes to using the Search Function and marking a package for install.

What am I doing wrong here?

Bry

Hello b. cripps,

Unfortunately I can't answer your question, but I'll research it a bit more.

We might do better finding help here,

https://askubuntu.co...nstall-waterfox

or even posting a question to that forum might be a good idea. I'll look a bit later. Have to go out for a bit..

Just to finish off, thank you once again, Zep. It would appear that SDM is working just fine. But Waterfox does not come up in any of the repositories. SDM can't find what's not there!!! So not sure what's happening here, but SDM works fine for me, just not for this download.

Good information, Zep. I've copied this into a file and will have a closer look.

Once again. This is a good article, Zep... not directly related to my problem, which I think I have figured out, but worth reading and I have copied it to a file for future reference. Thank you for looking into this and sharing.

All best,

Bry

Hey Synaptic Package Manager is simler to the graphic program that comes preinstalled with Ubuntu, linux mint, but the Synaptic Package Manager does not have any graphic in it. you just search for a packages/program in the search like Firefox, right click it and mark for either install or remove, and hit the apply. type your password. Done
